Combo, Spicy Sunday and TUM are pleased to present a not to be missed outdoor season.

⟡ Nightmares on Wax: where do you start with Leeds-born Ibiza-based producer George Evelyn, the man who pioneered British electronic music? As the longest-standing artist signed to Warp Records, N.O.W. opened doors to new sonic landscapes for countless musicians. Influenced by his father's collection and the soca rhythms of the islands, young George was captures by artists like Curtis Mayfield, Sarah Vaughan, and Quincy Jones. In his teens, inner-city bass-heavy reggae sound systems left an indelible mark. But the advent of hip-hop in the UK, with its loop-based, sample-heavy style, was the final catalyst for George's musical journey. Teaming up with writing partner Kevin Harper, he made his mark on the emerging rave scene with defining singles like 'Dexterous' (1989) and 'Aftermath' (1990). Their 1991 debut album, 'A Word of Science: The First and Final Chapter,' fused techno and hip-hop with a downtempo vibe, establishing the signature N.O.W. sound of loop-driven, sample-infused funk, soul, and hip-hop—a precursor to what would later be dubbed 'chill' music. N.O.W entered the 21st century with a whole new spin on things, with a combination of melody, beats and vocals that would see some serious success across radio airwaves with cuts like ‘Know My Name’ and ‘70’s 80’s. There’s no two ways about it, N.O.W is one of the most important and influential black British producers of his generation.
