Kora Beat is one of the most interesting projects in the world/jazz music scene in Italy.
The band was founded by Master Cheikh Fall, a Senegalese musician from Dakar.
The kora is an African harp traditionally played in West African music. Kora Beat explores the potential of this unique instrument by blending it with different genres such as jazz, funk, and modern African rhythms like mbalax and coupé-décalé.
The result is an innovative fusion of the kora’s melodic lines and the saxophone’s harmonies, combined with irresistible dance grooves.
The songs tell stories of journeys, encounters, and intercultural dialogue, sung in Wolof, Manding, and Malinke.
Active since 2013, the group has performed in Italy, India, and Senegal, appearing at prestigious venues and festivals such as Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Firenze Percussion Festival, Douta Seck Cultural Centre in Dakar, and Bihar Diwas in Patna (India).
