Trio Monne was formed in Turin at the end of 2012 out of a desire to play a kind of sound rarely featured in the city’s jazz scene. The meeting of the three musicians – Gaetano Fasano, Jacopo Albini, and Simone Bellavia – shaped and strengthened a jazz-fusion repertoire influenced by the styles of composers from the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s such as Frank Zappa and Jaco Pastorius. Although they belong to three different generations, the trio developed a strong connection through their shared interest in balancing composition and improvisation within an electric jazz setting.
